The Challenge

Baguio City is committed to maintaining a land use balance where at least 75% of the city’s land remains as open or green spaces and no more than 25% is occupied by built-up areas. As the city continues to grow, increasing development pressure threatens forests, watersheds, parks, and other environmentally critical areas.

Achieving this vision requires better ways to monitor land use, assess changes over time, and support evidence-based planning. The City is seeking innovative approaches that can help preserve its natural environment while enabling responsible urban growth that benefits both present and future generations.
